Sculpting and Manufacturing

Taro's, prototypes are created by directly shaping silver materials in various forms, including sheets, bars, and wires. The tools used throughout the process, such as chisels and engraving tools, are also handcrafted in-house. By carefully selecting the appropriate materials, techniques, and tools for each purpose, every piece is brought to life as an original and distinctive creation.

Pre-polishing

Using a fretsaw, files, and other specialized tools, he carefully removes excess material, refines shapes, and precisely adjusts the fit of each custom part, always considering the steps that follow. Minute adjustments and surface finishing are carried out throughout the process. This stage requires meticulous craftsmanship and a deep understanding of the final form, making it one of the most critical steps in determining the overall quality of the piece.

Brazing

This process involves soldering together different metals and multiple components using a torch and solder. Because each material and shape has unique properties — such as melting point and heat conductivity — the flame intensity, working time, sequence, and chemicals used must all be carefully adjusted throughout the process.

- 03

Barrel Polishing

This process involves strengthening or polishing metal that has been softened through heating by using a rotating machine. By carefully adjusting the speed and duration, a distinctive texture and finish can be achieved.

Stone Setting, Engraving

Stampwork lies at the heart of the TaroWashimi brand. Each piece is carefully hand-stamped with meticulous attention to every detail — from the angle of the chisel and the depth and flow of each strike, to the overall balance and even the intuitive nuances that bring the design to life.

The use of gemstones is also one of TaroWashimi’s distinctive characteristics. A wide range of over 30 different stones are incorporated into the creations, including turquoise, opal, diamonds, and Paraiba tourmaline. Working with such a diverse variety of gemstones requires advanced techniques and constant ingenuity to fully bring out the unique beauty and character of each stone.

Surface Finishing

The finishing process, which enhances the natural character of the metal and brings out the depth of the stampwork, is an essential part of the craft. TaroWashimi’s originality and quality are built upon the careful application of these subtle yet highly important finishing touches.

Final Finish

From an infinite combination of tools, abrasives, polishing angles, and pressure, the optimal method is carefully selected for each individual piece. Even in the final stages, if something does not meet the required standard, the process begins again. Only through this uncompromising dedication is a piece finally considered complete.
